ABSTRACT

The Team and Collective Training Needs Analysis (TCTNA) methodology provides an integrated framework for conducting TNA for team and collective training, underpinned by the Team Training Model. A TCTNA represents a significant organisational undertaking, reflecting the complexity of team and collective tasks. With the possible exception of determining training options for small teams, it will typically require a team of analysts to execute the analysis. Consequently, it is critical that it is fully supported by the organisation and that effective project management of the TCTNA process is undertaken. The Project Initiation phase is concerned with putting the necessary project management and organisational support infrastructure in place and planning the conduct of the TCTNA. It directly feeds the Team/Collective Task Analysis process by providing the initial definition of the scope of the analysis in terms of training audience and training task. Training constitutes a significant component of the through life cost of a system and cannot be overlooked.
