ABSTRACT

Before we begin, let us remind ourselves of the working definition of Organisation Development (OD) from Chapter 1:

How an organisation develops and implements strategy with the full involvement/engagement of its people.

The purpose of this chapter is to help the OD practitioner to understand complex changes in organisations, to evaluate the change required and which approach(es) are best suited and most likely to deliver the desired outcome. Most specifically, it will help the practitioner to have confidence in proposing and justifying the use of OD principles where appropriate.
