ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the steps taken to assure the quality of published census estimates, focusing on the 2011 Census for England and Wales. It explains the embedding of quality assurance throughout the census operation, explaining the relationship between coverage assessment and adjustment based on the Census Coverage Survey, use of comparator administrative data sources and review by expert panels, and assessment of question responses based on the Census Quality Survey.
