ABSTRACT
Robert Angus Smith’s name is not readily recognized today even by scientists, for it is not associated with a new theory or new chemical reaction as a contribution to chemical understanding. However, he is one of the first scientists who should be recognized for the contribution he made in applying scientific understanding and knowledge to the field of sanitary science, a field to emerge during his lifetime.
