ABSTRACT

Digital governance is a relatively new concept as a defined discipline and is still evolving. At its foundation it is simply a good idea and it is also an imperative. Digital governance is part of the ongoing push to reduce costs, knock down silos and instill a better decision-making process for all digital investments. Although the principles are not new, actual implementation requires new thinking because of the special nature of many digital programs they do not live in only one business unit and they are multifaceted. Many of the programs go across the organization and they produce benefits and risks in several areas of a company. The digital governance of a company's programs, services and systems harbored in its digital strategy is not something achieved by a mandate or setting of rules. It is an ongoing activity that requires a continuous improvement mentality and responsiveness to a fast-changing business environment.
