ABSTRACT

Good people or the right people in the right positions are a key to the success of digital strategy implementation and ongoing governance of digital programs. Demonstrating commitment by senior management to the importance of digital governance and the value of being competent, removing cultural barriers, and improving communications are critical success factors for improving competence. The most effective way to develop and retain skills to run and manage digital programs and their governance is by establishing standards and practices within the organization rather than only within individuals. Vendors, suppliers and service partners must be valued for their digital skills and encouraged to invest in them. This is especially true of external service providers. Induction training should be required of new joiners, especially those holding key positions in relation to digital programs and systems.
