ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how the dynamics of the Arab-Jewish body of activism import imperial relations of power characteristical of the larger society in Israel. The betrayal of the representational forms of radical Hebrew first-language (HL1)-Arabic first-language (AL1) cooperation in Israel-Palestine as they are currently manifested at Galilee lies in the limits imposed on imagination regarding how we might play with subjectivity. Deleuze and Guattari's conceptual difference between limit and threshold is of use here: The limit designates the penultimate marking a necessary rebeginning, and the threshold the ultimate marking an inevitable change. There is an imposition of a limit the struggle against the law which keeps activism enslaved, faithful to Zionist territories and at distance from a threshold beyond which ethnic striations are challenged. The conceptual difference between limit and threshold explains as well, the incompatibility between activisms such as Atid and Sikkuy be Misgav on the one hand and Alternative Voice in the Galilee's (AVIG's), on the other hand.
