ABSTRACT

Ann Hemming Since the first edition if this book, it’s fair to say that we have experienced an unprecedented period of change in legal service provision.

We are still waiting to see what impact alternative business structures will have on law firms, still working through the implications of outcomes-focussed regulation and of course looking at a period of exceptional change in higher education, with many changes anticipated in the way law will be studied and accredited. Add to this the continuing impact of the changed financial landscape, which is having a greater effect on the legal industry than many of the previous recessions. What else has changed dramatically? Of course it is our use of technology which is continuing to change the way we do business, communicate, learn and acquire knowledge.
