ABSTRACT

Outsourcing is not a new concept. It is embedded in our market economy as a way of enabling us to focus on what we do best. It is a vehicle which moves us away from self-sufficiency and allows us to specialize. As households, we are perpetual outsourcers, relying on others to grow our food, build our houses, teach our children, make our clothes. These are services we are willing to pay for, as we are confident they are being done by specialists with a wealth of experience, contacts and knowledge and because they free us up to focus on our own ways of creating value.
