ABSTRACT
While developed initially in the area of lower organisms, biotechnological inventions now are increasingly applied to more complex biological entities.1 To help keep society in step with modern developments in biotechnology, the legal system must respond to newly raised issues in an adequate manner. In particular, risks and undesirable applications of the technology must be avoided or minimized, and great efforts should be made to use the positive potential of the technology fully.
