ABSTRACT

Action by Churches Together Netherlands originates from the oldest ecumenical aid organization in The Netherlands. ACT Netherlands is considered to be an expert sub-department, because of its expertise concerning humanitarian aid issues. The relief aid department continued under the name of 'ACT Netherlands'. ACT Netherlands works in emergency situations. ACT Netherlands does not show much resemblance to Simon's ideal type of the administrative organization. ACT Netherlands is a sub-department of the Foreign Department within the National Service Center of the Dutch protestant churches. ACT Netherlands decision-making processes in 1999 and 2000, before and after the merger with the Dutch churches. ACT Netherlands is an organization that co-operates with partner organizations in developing countries. The international ACT network was deemed to be useful because it helped Dutch Interchurch Aid to work more effectively. ACT Netherlands hardly has any specialization, except for the regional division of labor.
