ABSTRACT

This chapter tackles the question of whether corporate social responsibility is a vehicle for rolling back the state and rolling out the commercial sector. Addressing this question is first and foremost an empirical concern. But it is also a means to contributing to contemporary debates in comparative social policy regarding welfare state change and continuity. In this chapter there is a particular emphasis on relating the empirical findings from the case studies to the theoretical framework of the book, and to contributing to current welfare state debates.
