ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author explains how key areas of positive psychology, such as flourishing organizations, positivity, strengths and psychosocial resources contribute to our understanding of healthy workplaces. Appreciative Inquiry is then introduced as a positive methodology for organizational change and development, and recent work on the perspective and behaviour of appreciative leaders is outlined. The case for the mediation between positive organizations and healthy people being the effect of the social and emotional environment on our basic physiological processes will also be explained.
