ABSTRACT

Co-create inspired environments with occupants includes temporary alterations of space as opposed to building construction alone. Dalston, East London is a neighborhood that operates somewhat in isolation from other parts of the city. The area is changing rapidly as large-scale developments meet a densely occupied area with a high index of poverty and unemployment. There is a history of social activism yet Dalston is the only area in London to see off neighboring riots through standing firm in support of Turkish businesses. Mapping is the primary tool that muf employs to develop a conversation and to implicate disparate parties as stakeholders. When muf entered the community Dalston was already polarized and there was a palpable degree of anger due in part to the rush of developers to demolish buildings that contained thriving small businesses and community organizations that defined the areas identity.
