ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes the relation between mixed spaces and feminisms and argues that the presence of feminists and women's groups inside mixed spaces is an increasing phenomenon. It considers the influence of those groups in the configuration of the feminist movement in Spain. The chapter also analyzes the actions and strategies developed by the different Commissions of Feminisms. It focuses on the conflicts that have arisen between these Commissions and the 15M, which have been essential in these strategic debates. The chapter establishes whether the 15M is a new mixed space contributing to the emergence of feminist groups, as well as a space fostering the process of becoming feminist and of feminist politicization. The sexual abuses and harassment denounced by the Commissions were key in the design of strategies, the direction of actions and in other conflicts around the use of the feminist noun for the Commissions.
