ABSTRACT

This chapter starts with an explanation of why managers need to put in place an effective counter intelligence policy and then goes on to outline how senior managers can devise an organizational cyber security policy. The senior managers need to ensure that those that deal with suppliers on a day-to-day or week-to-week basis think through the security objectives and priorities, and refine and redefine matters so that their expectations of what the suppliers can and does deliver are met. Senior managers need to be aware of how an effective cyber security policy can be devised and sold within the organization and also to staff based in partner organizations. It is important at this juncture to reflect on what the difference is between security and counterintelligence. Security can be widely interpreted but is in essence concerned with training and putting in place proper technical measures to repel a range of cyber and non-cyber attacks.
