ABSTRACT

Communications and related Information Communications Technology (ICT) technologies form the 'technology' part of the people, processes and technology triangle, as it relates to strategic risk and national security. Food security, energy security, water security and cyber security are now paramount concerns for strategic thinkers worldwide. Each risk management professional needs to keep abreast of the latest food security developments and likely future trends. Communications risk managers need to be aware of how the networks they oversee are simultaneously a critical dependency, an avenue of attack, and a target in their own right. Global food security is a strategic concern that has the potential to directly affect every risk management operation in every industry or sector. The corporate risk manager needs to be in a position to alert senior decision-makers years in advance if water supply in far flung but relevant places has the potential to limit production of a food or substantially increase costs.
