ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on key concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book describes from a very a specific perspective with necessarily selective glimpses from the group of 43 CETLD projects. Each of these projects produced reports and in some cases films or other resources. Findings were encapsulated in the researcher's formal written accounts, in their words and terms. This stand independently of this book and the findings and questions that have emerged from them will be rippling out into museum and higher education for a long time to come, provoking and demanding new questions to be formulated and fresh ideas to be explored. Society and culture looks to designers to fulfil a range of roles: to be iconoclastic and visionary; to solve design problems in a ways that takes into account the impact on more fragile socio-economic and natural environments.
