ABSTRACT

With this chapter I wish to contribute to the understanding of how two core design competencies, namely visualization and modelling, may become valuable tools for ideation and engagement in the public policy process. (Note: the concept of ‘the policy process’ is not narrowly defined here as formal ministerial work, but taken broadly to entail processes of social regulation and financing on the municipal and national government level, as well as more general public debate about how to collectively create desirable and viable futures for present and coming generations.)
