ABSTRACT

To reduce incidences of supply chain fraud, organizations need to focus on their employees. In general, but especially in tough economic times, employees may find themselves overworked, underpaid, undertrained, and underappreciated. It is especially important that during the difficult times organizations do not take for granted the human element. Reducing fraud in the supply chain operations process and systems helps to improve an organization's financial integrity. The fact that information security ranked so low is a concern because of the sensitive nature of the data used to drive supply chains. Prices paid for raw materials and the vendors from which they are purchased represent competitive information. Competitive intelligence professionals are able to gather a wealth of information about an organization from news articles, classified advertising, blog posts and now social media updates, and this provides an additional challenge for security professionals to control.
