ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on how enterprises can innovate with digital technologies. We present some Digital Use Cases to show how contemporary, digital technologies such as mobile, cloud, social media and big data can enable a digital transformation. However, it is imperative for a Digital Enterprise to have a high level of maturity in innovation as a Digital Capability. We therefore propose a Digital Capability Maturity Model for the Innovation Capability, where we demonstrate its application to a leading Digital Enterprise that specializes in converging the digital and physical experience of users Samsung SDS, a subsidiary of the renowned innovative corporation, Samsung Group. Innovation is the process of turning opportunities into new, value generating ideas, and positioning those ideas into widely used practice. The need for survival through self-renewal and embracing changes is the fundamental capability of any living system, including organizations, which can be identified as socio-technical systems.
