ABSTRACT

Disability management (DM) was primarily developed by businesses with the objective of retaining and utilizing workers despite illness or disability. Occupational integration management (OIM) is a tool used by businesses in Germany to initiate solution-oriented action in the event of health-based deployment problems of their employees. While disability management predominantly applies to companies, rehab/case management support (RCMS) can play an important role in the disability management process when there are complex medical issues particularly after the accident or illness of an employee and can assist in the decision-making. The clinic involved in disability management must create its team with a view to answering questions and solving problems. The mutual understanding of company processes and requirements of the different institutions involved in the process promotes respect and thus the development of partnerships, particularly in the area of external provision of disability management.
