chapter  5
Distributed Situation Awareness in the Real World: A Case Study in the Energy Distribution Domain
Pages 18

So far we have focused on SA theory and measurement and have identified a theoretical approach (DSA) and a modelling approach (propositional networks) to drive investigation into SA during real world collaborative tasks undertaken within complex sociotechnical systems. We now move from focussing on the current SA literature to the assessment of collaborative SA in such contexts. The aim from here on in is to investigate and extend the DSA theory and propositional network measurement approach outlined in the previous chapter, with a view to developing guidance on how to design systems, procedures and training programs so that DSA is enhanced and not inhibited.
