ABSTRACT
Thismorningwefoundtracksshowingthatabearhad beenroundourtent,makinghiswaytoashed,through
whichwewenttoanothertent.We,therefore,presumed
that,sincethesnowlaythickagainstandoverthis,he
intendedtoclimboveritandcomeagaininfrontofour
tent.Hewenttoanash-tubstandingcloseby,seeking
forsomefood;butnotfindingthelatter,hemadehisway overtheMiddelburgboatsandcoal-casks.Wesearched
beforeandbehindthetenttoseewhetherwecoulddiscoveranythingmore,sincethete1nperaturewassomewhat
milder.TowardseveningthewindwasN.,withbutlittle breezeandincreasedcold.
