ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the pictures and text present, it want to contemplate the different shades of the wide spectrum that is brought into view through the implementation of visual entities in a book on contemporary urban life. Jerry Krase in his chapter on ethnic vernacular landscapes in Rome argues that the evidence that is produced by the works of visual sociology can work as an antidote to the problems faced by statistics on the presence of aliens in a given population. Zeuler Lima and Vera Pallamin chose a different route for representing the role played by the void below the museum that has been designed by Lina Bo Bardi after first considering the use of photographs to show the place and its uses, they reconsidered what they wanted to show the readers and finally decided to produce their own illustrations, drawn by Zeuler Lima.
