ABSTRACT
According to ISPRA in Italy 7.2 million tons of special, industrial and toxic waste were produced in 2012 (ISPRA 2012). Yet, every year about 30 million tons of waste disappears. Such a quantity of waste has been compared to a cylinder 2,000 metres high with a base three hectares wide (Osservatorio Ambiente e Legalità di Legambiente 2010). In Italy, a crime against the environment is committed every 17 minutes.
