ABSTRACT

Zorzi thought that Brother Thomas of Barara would be able to supply him with useful first-hand information about Ethiopia, coming as he did from what elsewhere would be called the administrative centre of the empire. Accordingly he invited him to his house and showed him a ‘drawing’ (presumably a sketch-map) which he had made from his previous notes, and ‘questioned him as well as I could, seeing the little Latin that he had’. He wrote down the results on 4 May 1524.
