ABSTRACT
The second main topic of this book is the comparison between the existing neo-regional organizations, their complexity and ambiguities. Five main case studies are particularly taken into account: two in the Americas (NAFTA and MERCOSUR), one in Asia (ASEAN), and finally the African case; comparative references are made to other regional groupings (Communidad Andina, SAARC, among others), while always keeping the EU experience in mind as an advanced workshop of regional cooperation and integration.
