ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a new genre of research methodology well suited to twenty-first century research that seeks to create critical awareness; raise consciousness; challenge dominant ideologies and build coalitions across groups. Midrash means exposition, investigation or searching. Similarly phenomenology is a research orientation providing rich insights into the everyday world of humans. The goal of the Midrash Methodology is to invite the reader to enter the world that the texts disclose and to dialogue with it themselves. The Midrashim 'were already starting to become research literature per se'. The Midrash Methodology satisfies the most rigorous of academic scrutiny. It begins with one's lived experience and offers new pathways for knowledge creation. Personal awareness and reflection underpins the Midrash Methodology.
