ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how all the information has been integrated into a comprehensive program that helps Grass Roots employees achieve remarkable results. A unit of 24 nurses, many of whom had expressed their intention to resign in the near future, attended a Grass Roots Innovation (GRI) Workshop. Mary, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), for the organization realized the situation had reached a critical point, and had scheduled the Grass Roots workshop. The GRI program uses a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge to drive long-term results. Tony Dottino suggests that the selected teams should have a diversity of functional skills, which include finance, human resources, organizational development and process leadership. The team's successes have been shared with other hospital locations and their proposal to present has been accepted at the National Teaching Institute for their annual conference that is attended by more than 6K people from all over the United States.
