ABSTRACT

This chapter evaluates the ensuing consequences of HIV/AIDS on each of those levels in South Africa. HIV/AIDS is an individual and medical disease; and a social, economic, and political dilemma at the same time. The economic effects of HIV/AIDS on South Africa are often the subject of speculation and projection, but are hard to measure precisely. Global Business Coalition and South African Business Coalition were serve to raise the international profile both of HIV/AIDS and of global business responses. Advent of Antiretrovirals (ARV) is generally purchased in US dollars on the international market. Consequently, what should be a vehicle of life, and of freedom, of independence and sovereignty, inspiration and the source of President Thabo Mbeki's African Renaissance. Thus Mbeki's occupation with South Africa's independence and its domestic sovereignty forms part of a cyclical relationship. Mbeki's main focus was on South Africa's domestic sovereignty and sovereign statehood.
