ABSTRACT
In order to truly understand and begin to move forward within the field of accident mitigation it is the opinion in this project that it is important to break down accident causation into its constituent elements without losing the dynamic properties of the real world situation. This not only allows us, as discussed in Chapter 2, to highlight the negative elements resulting in accidents or near misses but it also gives us the opportunity to begin to study the positive elements of any event and how these avoided worsening situations.
