ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book considers the goal of global health equity. While this has included many transformative moments in intellectual property law, possibly one of the greatest achievements in relation to intellectual property and health is the understanding that this is not an easy question of intellectual property policy. Arguably, the major achievements have been made through recognising and confronting the broader, wider, and more complex issues of innovation, development, health policy and equity. The guards surrounding the institutions of intellectual property have perhaps stood firm, but the agitation at the gates has opened onto a much larger domain of increasing complexity. Pharmaceutical companies, legislators, and policy-makers are 'learning' change.
