ABSTRACT

Having analysed the urban development surrounding international Expositions corresponding to their host cities and the different historical contexts, it is interesting to observe to what extent the case of Zaragoza came into this series of events and what specific aspects set it apart. This chapter is a brief summary of the characteristics of the structure of the city and the changing nature of city planning at the turn of the century. In this way, we will be able to study the process through which a project such as the international Exposition Zaragoza 2008 was brought about and how the urban design strategies associated with it were developed.
