ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on a summary of some of the most important findings, relates these with some of the crucial opinions as they are known from the recent literature and then focuses on strategies for inventive city-regions. It then focuses on the relationships between the path dependence of inventive city-regions development and their creative knowledge strategies. The chapter summarises some crucial elements of the city-regions and mentioned where these regions were strong or weak; where opportunities could be found, and which threats could be identified. However, another story has to be told for the remaining three city-regions: Manchester, Birmingham and Leipzig. They are not in a position to build upon what they have established in the past in the same way as the other city-regions can. Manchester decided to get away from its industrial image and strategies are now aimed at facilitating networking to enable creative industries to develop.
