ABSTRACT

On 29 July 1966 Sara Dylan was driving behind her husband to pick him up after he had ridden his motorcycle into the Garage in Woodstock for repairs. On the way, he was to tell Sam Shepard in 1987:

I went blind for a second and I kind of panicked or something. I stomped down on the brake and the rear wheel locked up on me and I went flyin’… [Sara] picked me up. Spent a week in the hospital, then they moved me to this doctor’s house in town. In his attic. Had a bed up there in the attic with a window lookin’ out. Sara stayed there with me. 1
