ABSTRACT
Defined as the cultural and natural features of an area, landscape has been subject to important interest in cultural, ecological, environmental and social fields. Character is a set of features or qualities that make something different from others (Kirkpatrick, 1980), where landscape character is defined as the distinct and recognisable pattern of elements that occur consistently in a particular type of landscape and distinguish one landscape from another (Swanwick, 2002; Turner, 2005; Martin and Farmer, 2006).
