ABSTRACT

Even in today’s increasingly diversified legal work landscape, most lawyers still work in private practice (U.S. Department of Labor 2010-2011).1 But, should they? Despite being one of the most likely places a lawyer will work after law school, modern private law firm practice, with its crushing hours commitment, undiversified workplace, poor training, and lack of collegiality is not the most likely place a lawyer will find a satisfying and rewarding work environment or build the leadership skills needed to succeed over the long haul.
