ABSTRACT

This book has provided a series of analyses that highlight the complexities and challenges in understanding various aspects of legitimacy as they are reflected in the criminal law and criminal policy as well as in the organisation and practice of the judiciary (be it at national, international or EU level). Analytical, descriptive, normative and jurisprudential approaches from academics and practitioners attempted to reveal existing problems and their underlying causes of the presentday legitimacy challenges that can be found in the broad area of criminal justice.
