ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book utilizes the existing work around lifestyle migration. As a concept, lifestyle migration has allowed for the exploration of the social and cultural within current conceptions of wider across border movement. The book suggests that lifestyle migration is often characterized by movement to more rural areas. It argues that research on young people is under represented within the mobilities field. Through using lifestyle mobility as a conceptual tool, the complexities of young people's everyday negotiations with their surroundings are fruitfully explored, and as such, people understanding of youth lifestyles and mobility is enriched. Hence, the chapter suggests that, instead of researching young people and children by considering the spaces they move between, lifestyle mobilities offers a way to value how, where and with who they move, and so allows for a wider appreciation of their relationships with space.
