ABSTRACT

In October 1935 Arthur M. Hill, president of the National Association of Motor Bus Operators (NAMBO), addressed the ninth annual meeting of the organization, held in New Orleans, with the following words: 'We are today standing upon the threshold of an important new era in the history of the motor bus industry - the era of federal regulation. 1 He was referring to the passage of the Motor Carrier Act of 9 August 1935.
