ABSTRACT

The aspect of resource scheduling described in this chapter, is just as easy to accomplish as single project scheduling, provided good software is available and is used with common sense. There is a case for scheduling materials purchases as part of a cash flow management process but, although that is important, it is a more advanced and less usual application of project management software. Computers work best with numbers and any resource that can be quantified using simple numbers or one-dimensional units can be scheduled with good project management software. There are four skilled construction people available on Sheep Island who can be freed from their other work. However, they have included the time analysis results in and these will be of considerable use in resource scheduling. But before that they need to explain and understand some more of the underlying principles of resource scheduling, and for that purpose they can stay on Sheep Island.
