ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with cash flows from the perspective of the project manager, so that they are concerned here only with the direct costs. It revisits cash flow scheduling much later in the project life cycle. The vital subject of project cash flow might be appreciated by a few of the senior staff who works in project organizations, but it is more often completely misunderstood by people whose qualifications and interests are mainly technical. Scheduling cash for internal projects can be complex. It concentrates on the project as it is viewed by the main contractor, but it concludes this case by commenting on the very different cash flow of this project as it will be experienced by the Lox Chemical Company. However, this cash flow schedule is for this project only, and it is only part of the total cash flow picture of Projects Unlimited Inc (PUI) when all its other concurrent projects are considered.
