ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a new theoretical construct and develops an advanced model of innovation adoption (AMIA) by investigating a wide range of factors that affect individuals' adoption of innovation in an organizational context. The proposed advanced model was tested via a variety of methods consisting chiefly of a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews. The research process was reviewed and assessed in conjunction with the findings. This chapter presents the summary, conclusions and implications, the contribution to knowledge, research limitations and ideas for future research. A literature review was undertaken from which a new theoretical construct was proposed and an advanced model for innovation adoption was developed. It took into consideration the strength and limitations of other existing models. The technology acceptance model, which was introduced in 1986 by Davis (1989), is an adaptation of the theory of reasoned action specifically tailored to explain determinants of technology acceptance.
