ABSTRACT
The EC White Paper on Transport emphasised that effective transport systems are essential to achieve European prosperity in terms of economic growth, social development and the environment. This chapter address, especially in the context of first and last mile solutions which are particularly focused on the delivery of door-to-door public or private transport options which allow people to complete their journey without using a car. The EC-ITS Roadmap outlined the way forward to achieving a consistent and comprehensive policy framework cooperation with the main stakeholders, proposals for creating real ownership of different ITS applications and a business case for deployment. The term technology roadmap has been used quite frequently by various IT oriented organisations to present possible future development paths for technology. The insights of respondent's opinion of ITS theme priority by organisation type and by country show a similar pattern.
