ABSTRACT

Linda Morey Smith of designers MoreySmith led the revamp of three floors of a building in London's Great Pulteney Street to create Nokia's 35,000 sq ft London design studio. Public relations agency Edelman exemplifies that attitude. Edelman's work in fast-moving industry sectors dictated its need to promote teamwork to react swiftly and reconfigure constantly. Innovation hub developed by architects DEGW for GlaxoSmithKline in Weybridge, UK. Underpinning the entire exercise was the conviction that the redesign of the environment should be driven by the requirements of global brands rather than professional disciplines, so removing departmental silos. Brainstorming sessions, pitting a dozen minds from different disciplines against one another in raucous pursuit of zany ideas, are called on at a moment's notice. Space for collaboration should provide moveable furniture and flexible work settings for personalised use by individuals as well as by project teams.
