ABSTRACT

Gutenberg’s introduction of moveable type and the printing press revolutionized the way in which scientific and other ideas and research could be shared, creating the potential for humankind to reap massive benefits. But how accessible were sources of knowledge to those on the other side of the world? How much effort would be required to collect this knowledge in order to develop scientific or art and literature research? It is well known that scientists and artists are continuously learning how to discover knowledge and useful data, but when their access to the sources is limited, the potential for development is also restricted.
