ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book covers the Anna in Jonathan Glazer's Birth, Nicole as Evie in Park's Stoker hates opera, while her daughter India is attracted to it. Fresco Opera Theatre's intriguing piece, Ding Dong, the Diva's Dead, seems to be a theatrical enactment of the cliche of opera's kinship with cinematic death. The Met has launched an array of new initiatives that are designed to broaden the public appeal of opera. The mission of Fresco Opera Theatre is to "cultivate a new generation of opera lovers" by presenting opera "in a fresh accessible way". The company's new media partnerships and expanded union agreements provide unprecedented distribution opportunities and better ways to reach new audiences. The HD movie broadcasts provide a front row seat to the unique spectacle of live opera. The book explores an opera's versatile functions as soundtrack is obviously interdisciplinary.
