ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how communication and leadership from the perspective of a project team should not be excluded from the totality of factors influencing project life cycle economics. The life cycle of projects is composed of a sequence of activities that are very different from one another, as well as being of varying levels of significance from an economic perspective. An example is provided by the project phasing adopted in the publications issued by the European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS). Good communication skills are certainly crucial to ensure harmony at work and, consequently, to improve project performance and effectiveness. In the context of communication, sociologists also use the term proxemics to define the spatial interactions of humans. Maslow Pyramid represent human needs in such a way as to analyse relationships among individuals and working group dynamics. Current studies on social psychology applied to communication and leadership provide opposing interpretations.
