ABSTRACT

Projects have a variety of stakeholders and during the project planning phase it is imperative that a stakeholder analysis is carried out in order to identify the project stakeholders and their potential impact on the project. A good stakeholder analysis provides the project manager with information about the interests of stakeholders. Goal-setting techniques can be used to facilitate clear expectations amongst stakeholders with regard to what the project requires of them. This can be used as part of the engagement process as research has shown that clarity of expectations has an impact on the degree of engagement that an individual feels towards his work/organisation. The concept of employee engagement emerged from the research into organisational commitment and organisational citizenship. Basically, building shared ownership is about using the information that people gather when building the relationship with their stakeholder to identify any common goals or aspirations around the project so that they have common ground.
